What is Acupuncture

It’s an ancient Chinese healing art, which has developed and matured over the last 2,000 – 5,000 years. Various styles have been practiced for generations in many Asian countries, but it has been known in the west only for the last 150 years or so, and in America (outside of Chinese communities) only since the 1970s.

In an acupuncture treatment, a skilled practitioner inserts hair-thin needles to mobilize and direct your body’s own healing energy (or qi – pronounced “chee” in Chinese) to relieve symptoms rapidly.

Lasting relief usually comes with a course of 3 to 10 treatments, depending on the condition, how long you’ve had it, how strong your energy is and the general state of your health. Chinese herbs can augment and speed up the healing process.
