Samantha Mason

Samantha-Mason-AcupunctureI am a graduate of the National College of Natural Medicine here in Portland where I earned my Masters degree in Classical Chinese Medicine. Through a dynamic blend of acupuncture, herbal therapies, bodywork and holistic nutrition I will support you on your personal path to healing.

I specialize in treating chronic pain, digestive issues, and also work heavily with individuals healing from trauma and PTSD, and those struggling with depression, anxiety and other mental emotional conditions. My goal, whatever the symptom, is to leave you with a renewed sense of balance in your body and the personal empowerment to continue making positive changes in your life.

Prior to my study of Chinese Medicine I earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA and spent the next four years working with homeless and at-risk youth on the streets of Seattle. This work provided me with a deep compassion for the challenges we face and also inspired me with the kindness and resilience people show even during the darkest times of their lives.

During my studies I trained closely with Dr. Brandt Stickley in Shen-Hammer pulse diagnosis, an intricate method of analysis which allows a practitioner to understand not only the dynamics of current symptoms, but also underlying causes and potential future pathways of disease. I have found this approach invaluable when dealing with complicated and chronic conditions.

I have also extensively studied Chinese Psychology as outlined in the text Dragon Rises Red Bird Flies by Dr. Leon Hammer. This work has deepened my understanding of the intersection between our minds and our bodies, and how to reconcile imbalances through the art of acupuncture and herbal medicine.

I came to Chinese Medicine as a way to understand more deeply the relationship between physical pain and emotional trauma. What I found was a profound medicine that recognizes human beings as intricately connected to each other and to the world around them. I am humbled every day by the power of nature to teach us what it means to live a freer and more fulfilling life. I look forward to the opportunity to share this medicine with you.
